20 years ago I used to love painting "little metal men" and playing the very first edition of what was to become the hugely successful Warhammer 40K game, so recently I decided to revisit my youth. So far this has consisted of going out and buying some minis, and then wonderful-wife going out and buying ALL THE MINIS IN THE WORLD, and a selection of paints and brushes. With a couple of hours each weekend to paint them, this is going to take a while. There they sit in the corner now... looking at me... judging me... Anyway, one thing that I've found motivational is the wealth of pictures and "how to" guides on other painters' blogs, so I decided to post some of my own humble efforts here. Hope you like 'em.

Jasper

Totally unrelated to gaming and painting - but I thought you might be interested to see more of the hound in the Weekend Painter title banner.

This is Jasper:

Jasper was born in October 2010, and is a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. PBGVs are French scenthounds, and are a relatively new introduction to the UK. They are a high-energy, intelligent, mischievous and downright hilarious breed, whose friendly and enthusiastic disposition earned them the nickname "the happy hound".

I feel I should add the obligatory word of caution here just in case you might be tempted to get one: they are a VERY active little dog. They require patient and firm-but-kindly handling, consistency and solid training, or they really will walk all over you. If you don't keep them busy, they will quickly get frustrated and find something to do that you won't like - they also have a loud ringing bark (which I find musical, but the neighbours may not...). Jasper has near constant supervision when he's awake, loads of walks / running in the countryside, and hours chasing balls and chewing bones every day. In short, they are a huge commitment, so do your research carefully and if you don't have the type of lifestyle that a PBGV will fit into then don't get one.

Here's a few pics of the little chap, hope you like:
