20 years ago I used to love painting "little metal men" and playing the very first edition of what was to become the hugely successful Warhammer 40K game, so recently I decided to revisit my youth. So far this has consisted of going out and buying some minis, and then wonderful-wife going out and buying ALL THE MINIS IN THE WORLD, and a selection of paints and brushes. With a couple of hours each weekend to paint them, this is going to take a while. There they sit in the corner now... looking at me... judging me... Anyway, one thing that I've found motivational is the wealth of pictures and "how to" guides on other painters' blogs, so I decided to post some of my own humble efforts here. Hope you like 'em.

Finished the squad then...

Here are the heavy weapons guys - missile launcher and flamer:

...and here's the squad all together:

More Legion of the damned next I think. Have a nice Wednesday folks.

  1. Do I smell a macragge box set squad?

    Looking really nice.

Now all you need is a classic land raider or rhino as a ride for them!

  3. I used to have a classic rhino - no idea where that got to but then, it was 20 years old... its machine spirit would probably have expired.

Apparently these guys are second edition, from here:

I think I've even still got the books and card buildings somewhere. There were some orks in this set but they're rubbish compared to the new ones.

  4. Ah second edition, when the Marines became Marines. I remember sitting around my friends kitchen table as we all opened the box set and were amazed by the awesome miniatures inside! Nice paint on these guys. They really bring back memories...

  5. Got lots of RTB01 pointy-nosed marines from way back. Think I've got some Squats somewhere too for a real nostalgia session... I really must round them up and take a couple of pics for old times' sake.

  9. Awesome squad man =) You've done a better job than I did on my 'launchers back in 95!

There's something a bit special that happens when a marine squad is finally all finished =D Funny you should mention a Rhino. I was given a Rogue Trader version about 4 years ago and just got around to prepping it last week, the amount of paint on it now is extreme! Its not going to be pretty...

Will try to get a few of the Warriors together for a photo shoot and post a link =)

  11. Nice one Tim, would love to see them. Ah, Rogue Trader... those were the days. Excellent hardback rulebook that I've now sadly lost. I've still got a copy of the Chaos books though and a lot of old White Dwarfs. Maybe I should do a 'nostalgia trip' post or two.
